About the Pool
This bracket pool is based on the 2009 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. You will pick the winner for each game on the entire bracket. Points are scored according to the rules explained below. At the end of the tournament, the person with the most points wins the pool. All brackets will be submitted online directly at the website unless otherwise specified by the commissioner.
Signup Required
In order to submit your bracket you must signup for a Login ID and Password by clicking the Signup link at the top of the page. You must signup for the pool prior to the signup deadline on Thursday March 19th 2009 at 12PM ET (Eastern Time).
Bracket Deadlines
Brackets can be added, edited and deleted up until the bracket deadline on Thursday March 19th 2009 at 12PM ET (Eastern Time).
Opening Round Game
The opening round game ("play-in game") that is played on Tuesday March 17th is not counted in this pool and will not appear on the entry bracket.
Bracket Limit There is no limit to the number of brackets each person may enter in the pool. Each person's brackets should be submitted using the same Login ID. Scoring Points are scored for each correct pick made on your bracket. The number of points scored for each correct pick varies by round as shown in the chart below. | POOL SCORING | | 1st Round (32 games) | 1 point for each correct pick | | 2nd Round (16 games) | 2 points for each correct pick | | 3rd Round (8 games) | 3 points for each correct pick | | 4th Round (4 games) | 4 points for each correct pick | | 5th Round (2 games) | 5 points for each correct pick | | 6th Round (1 game) | 6 points for each correct pick |
Tie Breaker If the tournament ends with two or more brackets tied with the same total score, then the tie-breaker will be used to break the tie. The tie-breaker is picking the total score of both teams combined in the National Championship game. You will make your tie-breaker pick as part of the online bracket submission. Closest to the actual total score wins the tie-breaker. If two or more brackets remain tied after applying the tie-breaker rule, then the pool will end in a tie unless otherwise specified by the commissioner.
Special Circumstances
Technical problems
Due to the nature of the internet, the pool website may not be available at all times. It may be especially difficult to connect to the website as the deadline nears due to high traffic volume. Therefore, you are encouraged to complete your bracket as early as possible (remember, you can modify the bracket as many times you want until the deadline.) The pool commissioner is not responsible for website malfunction.
Commissioner privilege
The pool commissioner has the final decision on all pool matters, including those items not specifically mentioned on this rules page. If you have any questions regarding the rules, please contact the pool commissioner for clarification.
